OOTY:

This place is indeed the most sought after tourist place in the country. This place is known as the QUEEN OF HILLS because this was the Britishers favourite summer spot. The original name of this place is UDHAGAMANDALAM and its situated on the NILGIRIs which means blue mountains.

Ooty is situated in the heart of the Nilgiris mountains at an altitude of about 2500 mts above sea level. This place has a very pleasant climate throughout the year with mercury swinging between 10 and 25 degrees celcius all round the year. The ideal time to visit this place is april to june and september to november. The only thing which is not to be forgotten while touring this place is warm clothes.

The best part of the tour to this place is the Mountain train from mettupalayam to the hill top. This journey is a remarkable one as it crosses hundreds of bridges and several tunnels on its way. This train ride is rated as the best coz it gives a complete insight of the mountain scenary of this place. 1000's of water springs and falls mark the way of this journey, and makes it one of the most pleasant ones. Have a look...

This ride dot marks all the great scenaric views of this place.

The lake of ooty needs special words of description. The whole trip to this place becomes worthless if one fails to have a boat ride in this fantastic lake. Its an artificially made up lake by damming the streams flowing through. Near the lake is the childrens park and the deer park for activities. Altogether this place is a perfect combination of beauty and amazing crowd which makes it a must tour destination. Have a look of some of the lake's fantasies....

For more pics of this place click here.

The general places to visit in Ooty include the Botanical garden, The Pykara falls, The Rose garden, Dodabetta peak, etc. But the main catch of this place is the lake and the scenaries encountered in the mountain railway journey. If you are a true nature lover then like in the Kodaikanal post and the munnar post, hire a cab and tell the cabby to take you a place filled with nature and scenary. He ll take you to places outside, which i think is the ultimate tourist attracting spot.

The main catch of this place is the sprawling tea gardens. The major income source of this place has flourished beauty into this place. The tea gardens cover all the crevices of the mountains and give it a breath taking look. The tea gardens dazzle with sunlight in the morning, and the flomboyant taste of tea in this place cannot be obtained anywhere else in the world. Ooty is also famous for its home made chocolates and handicrafts.

This place definitely make India a paradise.

MUNNAR:

This place is definitely one of the best places in India to visit. An ideal place for a couple for their sweet honeymoon. No disturbance around, admiring nature and complete privacy often accompany visitors who come to this place to relax completely and spend a good time with their companions. Dont beleive?? Then just check out some of these pics.....

This is an early morning view of the greatest hill station of India. Looking at the picture, mist and cool breeze enlighten the morning scenary. The mist covers the mountains so beautifully that it looks as if the mountains are covered with a warm blanket of snow. All this gives a great start to the tour of Munnar.

The glory of Munnar lies in this place. The great lake on which the Mattupetty dam is built. This is one of the major tourist attracting spots of this hill station, not just because of the lake, but also because of the scenary covering this part. Beautiful mountains give a pose as never before. The whole set of this lake compliments each other in enhancing the beauty of this place.

Munnar is one place where beauty comes before anything else. Any person coming to this place is awesomely dazzled when he looks at the scenary around him, just like this pic. Munnar is blessed with the extreme speciality of Kerala,,, "backwaters". Yes, this is something which supports life at this place. Backwaters form the backbone of the natural scenary of this place.

Munnar is located in the state of Kerala in India. This breath-taki
ng place is located on the Southern Western Ghats in the Idukki district. The altitude of this place is about 1600 to 1800 mts above sea level, which affects its temperature to range between 10 to 25 degrees celcius. The ideal time to visit this place is august-sept-october zone, coz this place is, at that time, genuinely adorned by the beauty of mother nature. To reach Munnar, its advisable to travel to Cochin(ernakulam) by air or land, and then by a cab to the high mountains which is about a 6 hour journey by road.

As popular, Kerala is known for its numerous backwaters and waterfalls. Munnar keeps Kerala's head high in this aspect. While from Cochin towards Munnar, one finds hundreds of streams forming the outlet of a major waterfall shown in the pic on the right. The water from the streams is ultrapure coz it penetrates rock soil and is extremely tasty. Drink this water for a few days continously and you ll get rid of all the sickness and infections. An extremely photogenic region, these fountains and water streams & falls, form the major tourist attractions. Standing at a least distance from running water which is extremely pure is a heavenly feeling. It makes you get rid of all the tensions in life. Thats why most people prefer Munnar for a holiday.

Yes. This is Munnar in real form. This is why this place is so popular. A vibrant water fall. Standing for just 5 mins near this site makes you feel so fresh that you automatically gain the energy to further tour this place inspite of your tiredness.

Munnar has numerous sight seeing spots such as the wild life sanctuary, and gardens. But as said in the Kodaikanal post i would suggest you hire a cab and ask the cabby to take you to a place which is naturegenic. And beleive me, the sites you ll see, will make you say WOW!!!! Coz this place is absolutely filled with a lot of scenary, water streams and grenary everywhere. A person can spend a whole day on the outskirts of munnar enjoying the lush green mountains and enjoying the best scenaries in the world.

And if you want to roam in the interior of Munnar, there are loads of options. The mighty famous lake of Munnar is one of the best options. Get a boat ride on the lake and you get to see amazing views of the place and whatmore, you enter the elephant zone in the boat, where you get to see the herd of elephants. This is one of the rarest sights on the planet. This makes this place a lot more famous. On the lake is built the Mattupetty dam, which is also an amazing photo taking zone. One pic makes it a remembral of this very famous place. This place also holds the credit of containing one of the rarest species of goats in this world,,, THE NILGIRI THAR. This place is full of adventure and activity for every person who wants to explore the beauty of this place. Have a look at some of the most eye catching view of this place.

And one of the most important things to be done at this place is to visit the tea gardens of this region. This region is one of the oldest tea cultivating regions in the world. It was started by the British and later due to huge popularity adopted by the natives. The tea gardens by themselves are a major tourist spot, coz they cover huge mountains and look as if the mountain had a smooth even surface, they cover all the trenches and ridges of the mountains. Tea plants spread over 1000's of hectares make the area look so beautiful and the climate of this place is ideal for drinking tea. So if you visit this region then dont forget to have a taste of the brilliant tea which refreshes you every moment.

Hmmm. Munnar is rightfully a favourite tourist spot. Just check out some of these pics. This should definitely make you nerves sense the love of nature.

This is a view of the famous Munnar lake in the morning time. Have a look at the clouds and the beautiful scenary around the lake.

A view of a stream which flows like blood in the veins. The flowing streams flow the purest water in the world. Drinking this water for just few days makes a person healthy and fit. One of the most spectacular views when watched in reality.

Scenaries. This is what this place is all about. One should definitely visit this place atleast once in a lifetime. Rightfully it forms the paradise of India.

All around this road you ll find beautiful scenary full of lush green mountains and amazing looking streams of pure n fresh water. Not to forget the very sought for greenary of trees which is the major factor for this place being so beautiful and tourist attracting

Hmmm! Now it s time to describe this place. As simple as it goes, Kodaikanal is an excellent hill station on the Palani hills of the Western Ghats of the Great Indian subcontinent. It is about 500 kms from chennai and about 125 kms from Madurai in the Tamil Nadu state of India. Being at an altitude of about 2000 m above sea level this place has a very good climate with mercury running between 10 to 20 degrees all round the year. There is no particular visiting period for this place as whenever tourists visit this place they are given a royal welcome by the amazing mist and pleasure filled weather.

The ideal amount of time to spend at this place is 3 days and 2 nights. There is all sorts of luxury at this place to suit your budget. Ranging from the best resorts in Kodai to the average hotel room, everything over here gives you a warm blanket of love and eye pleasing view of this great place.

The best thing to be done at this place, is to just take a walk around the Kodai lake, meet new people, socialize more, etc, etc. Something more amazing to be done is that you hire a pedalbike (its pretty inexpensive at rs.10 per hour) and enjoy the chilling weather and the playful mist around the lake. Horse riding is another exclusive option as it gives you a enjoyable experience around the lake. And if you are a bit hydrophilic, then dont forget to miss the amazing boating experience in the lake, with all the lotus flowers surrounding your boat royally guarding you. To enjoy this place to the fullest i would suggest you spend a full day doing this. This is a perfect touring option for the first day of the trip as it would be close to your stay location. And this is also the best way to get rid of the tiredness at the place. Enjoy the joy of the chilling air down your throat n you ll have the maximum fun at this place. Heres some proof to the beauty of this great place.

The second day of your trip can comprise of visiting the official suggested tourist spots such as the suicide point, the rock caves, the 500 year old tree, coakers walk, the liril falls, the pine forest etc. To visit all these places you can hire a cab and tell the cabby to take you to these places. He ll also suggest you various other places and you can spend your entire day enjoying them. Dont forget to take as many photos possible to keep them as a memory of those amazing tourist spots. And a few things which are unofficially recommended are eating fresh carrots available at these places, and not to forget, the special HOME MADE CHOCOLATES at these places. These things raise your nerves to more enjoyment and fun.

A scene of the COAKERs WALK in Kodai. A great exercise track for visitors and has a lot of importance too. A place where nature is adorned by beauty and pure chilled air. This is one place where a person does not realize the passage of time when he s deeply ingrossed into it.

This is the famous pine forest of the Kodai. Its an ideal place to take a photo n keep it as a memorable collection for your life. To the outside of this place are available fresh carrots. This is something which no person should miss. I dont think carrots get more tastier anywhere else.

Have a close look of the Liril falls. Its water is extremely pure and its said that drinking the water of this lake fulfils all your ambitions. An excellent creation by nature, this is the location where the advertisement of Liril was shot, and hence so nicknamed. But an amazing place to visit coz this is the main branch of water supply to all the small small falls which run throughout Kodai.

For all the nature lovers, the main attraction of this place is the outskirts of kodai. Just ask your cabby to take you to a beautiful nature filled place, and he ll take you about 40 kms from the main city to a place which will make you say BRILLIANT. This is the main catch of this hill station. All through your journey to that place you ll find amazing glimpses of scenary of implicit beauty. Spectacular waterfalls, the chasing mist behind you, the refreshingly chilling air and the gentle rays of the sun, make your body dance to the tunes of joy.
